Virtual Summer Camps 2020

It is our pleasure to write to advise you that we will be hosting Summer Camps 2020 on the Zoom platform. Please see below all the relevant information to ensure you still have an impactful Camp experience.

Camps 2020 will be held under the theme, “My God I.D.  – #GODentity – In Christ, With Christ, Through Christ, For Christ”

Please note the following:

DATES

There have been slight changes to our dates and the length of Camps. Please see below the dates and ages for Camps 2020:

  • Intermediate: July 8- 11  | Age 13 – 16 years
  • Youth: July   15-18  |  Age 17 – 21 years
  • Junior: July 22-25  | Age 9 – 12 years

 The age limits are to be adhered to for each camp. Failure to comply will result in campers not being admitted to or removed from the Zoom platform.

 

VENUE

All Camps will be held on the Zoom platform and you will be provided with the information to access this platform after you complete the registration form at the link provided below under the heading Registration.

 

FEES

There will be no cost attached to participating in our Virtual Camps, however, campers may need to purchase materials to enhance their Camps experience. This information will be communicated to them by the relevant Chief, Chaplain, Secretary or Counsellor for the various camps.

 

REGISTRATION

All campers are to be registered on the Zoom platform at the following link https://tinyurl.com/JBU-Camper-Registration  ON OR BEFORE – Friday, July 3, 2020.

This will include completion, acceptance and return of the registration form, terms of service, community guidelines and privacy policy to be endorsed by the Parent/Guardian of the camper.

 

CAMP STAFF

Each camp will be equipped with the following personnel:

  • Camp Chief (main administrator)
  • Camp Chaplain (spiritual guide)
  • Camp Secretary (record keeper/liaison)
  • Camp Counsellors/Facilitators (male and female)

 

TRAINING

The Virtual Training and Planning retreats for Camp Counsellors/Facilitators will take place on Saturday, June 13 via the Zoom platform and there is an urgent need for volunteers.

We therefore wish to invite new volunteers, as well as remind others to offer themselves to serve. Interested persons are asked to complete the registration form at the following link https://tinyurl.com/Camp-Counsellor-Registration

 

CRITERIA FOR COUNSELLORS

The Camps Ministry is still in need of persons to avail themselves to serve for one week as counsellors/facilitators at a camp. They must meet the following minimum criteria:

 

  1. Have access to a computer, phone or tablet and internet connection

 

  1. Submit a completed Counsellor Application form accompanied by the Reference form which should be completed by the applicant’s pastor/moderator.

 

  1. Be at least 21 years of age and 7 years older than the upper age limit of the camp at which he or she wishes to serve. Only in exceptional cases will exceptions be made.

 

Please pass on the following information to the Campers as they prepare for Camps.

 

WHAT TO HAVE TO ACCESS AND USE VIRTUAL CAMP

Below is a suggested list of items to take to camps:

  • A computer/tablet/phone and internet connection
  • Bible/notebook/pen/pencil
  • A headphone
