Special Time of Prayer (Day of Pentecost)

Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2020 has been designated as the day for us to come together for a special time of prayer.

Join us via from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. online via the Microsoft Teams platform using this link Join Microsoft Teams Meeting where individuals, groups, congregations can join in prayer with the Jamaica Baptist Union; where you will be free to offer your own intercessions/inputs as led by the Holy Spirit.

You can access this platform on any electronic device such as smart phones, tablets, computers, etc. Note, however, that some devices e.g. smart phones may prompt you to download the app and insist that you do so in order to be able to join the meeting. In this case you will need to follow the instructions given on your device to download the app).

See guidelines below for making the most of this virtual prayer meeting.

GUIDELINES FOR VIRTUAL MEETINGS

  1. Meeting organizers are encouraged to plan the duration and flow of the meeting to be as concise and engaging as possible.
  2. Connect to the platform fifteen to thirty minutes before the scheduled start of the session/meeting. This allows time for unforeseen challenges to be addressed before the start of the meeting.

  1. Choose to be in a quiet area free from distractions and interference from others.

  1. After the session/meeting starts, keep your device on mute when you are not speaking.

  1. Try to remain engaged throughout the entire meeting.

  1. If possible, and if you are not connecting via your mobile phone, do not have it with you during the session/meeting. If you must have the phone with you, put it on silent.
  2. If the speed and stability of your Internet connection is less than ideal, the quality of the connection can be enhanced by disabling the use of the camera and communicating by audio only.

The following pointers are helpful if you are joining the meeting with your camera enabled:

  1. Ensure the space you will use for the session/ meeting has a fairly pleasant background and appropriate lighting.

  1. Remember to speak into the microphone/camera and not the screen.

  1. Remain aware of your actions while on camera.

  1. Please do not work on other tasks, such as checking your email or reading notifications on your phone/iPad, etc., while the session/meeting is in progress.
